1. The first trailer I saw for Don Jon was a very brief (I think 30 seconds) one as a commercial on Hulu, and it really didn't explain much about the plot. Basically, it just showed the scene of "Movies are different, they give awards for movies" "They give awards for porn too".
Later, though, I came across this article, and watched a longer trailer... and realized it's actually a very interesting premise. A friend I was making plans with wanted to see it too, so we went to it last weekend.
I think they could have done a better job expounding on Barbara's perception of romance - although the gist of her views, that life should look like a movie, was there, there were a few specifics that seemed to me to come out of nowhere (like the "it's not sexy to talk about cleaning" scene). An FYI - there are some parts where you really do feel like you're watching porn, so take care in choosing who to watch this with, but I do recommend it.
2. In a similar vein, this article shares a great view by Natalie Portman.
